Looking For A Job Search Log Spreadsheet
Looking For A Job Search Log Spreadsheet Apparently, a lot of people are looking for a spreadsheet tool to track their job search. A job search log, a job search tracker these are common terms I see people list as what they were searching for when they found JibberJobber, which for job seekers, is an excellent job search organizer. Of course, it is more than a job search tool it is my personal CRM, and it is a personal relationship manager for non-job seekers and it is a tool to organize and track relationships and target companies for people who are in-between job searches Nonetheless, let me share two job search tracking spreadsheet options for you, in case the JibberJobber job search organizational tools are too sophisticated: First, heres information about the job search excel spreadsheet that I created when I was looking, before I came up with JibberJobber (you can download the job search tracking spreadsheet from this post). I posted it for you so you could didnt have to start from scratch you can use it until you are so frustrated with a spreadsheet solution that you need a real tool to track your job search. It may sound wierd, but thats what happened to me. The spreadsheet worked to track my target companies, where I sent my resume, and network contacts for a few weeks. Then, I was doing so much networking, and sending out so many resumes, that my job search spreadsheet just started to fall apart. I knew after I found a job the spreadsheet would seem so convoluted I wouldnt be able to use it later. And that was not cool I didnt want to start from scratch when I started a new job search, 3 5 years after I landed. Second, heres Microsofts template for your job search. Thanks to Rod Colons ETP Network, which Im a proud member of, I learned about this from one of their new members. Again, if you need a spreadsheet, this would be a great choice just make sure you back up your C: drive regularly (you dont want to lose that data it might be the most important data you have on your PC!). Oh yeah, dont mess with the design too much, or it will get as convoluted as my job search log. Its tempting, with Excel, but it gets messed up. So if neither of those work for you, perhaps youd be interested in another option I hear JibberJobber is pretty freaking cool. Heres a short slideshow I did explaining what JibberJobber is: | View | Upload your own Yes, Im a slideshare.net junkie, after doing my I Just Got Fired show, which has been viewed over 1,400 times! So there you go, two options to start off with if you want to use a spreadsheet to track your job search. I dont recommend either, as I think using JibberJobber is a more long-term solution, even a career management solution but hey, were not for everyone! More on that later! Resources For Entrepreneurs - VocationVillage
Resources For Entrepreneurs - VocationVillage My favorite web resources for entrepreneurs are listed below. More people would probably be entrepreneurs if they had role models who are happy and successful entrepreneurs, so if you are considering launching a business or you already have one, one of the best things you can do is to become acquainted with entrepreneurs from whom you can gain knowledge and inspiration.EntrepreneurEwing Marion Kauffman FoundationInc.Joyfully JoblessStartUpNationStartup GrindU.S. Small Business Administration Learning Center

Entertaining Idea How to Make a Bloody Mary Bar
Entertaining Idea How to Make a Bloody Mary Bar Those closest to us know that Hubby and I are crazy about Bloody Marys. They are almost religious to us. One of our favorite dates is to hop around town on a sunny Saturday trying out different Bloody Marys in Chicago. We even considered having a full Bloody Mary bar at our wedding. During this years Easter celebration, we were put in charge of bringing appetizers. When you have a Mom like mine who typically serves 3 meats, homemade lasagna and an array of sides salads at holiday gatherings- you have to think carefully about such an assignment. I also know that my cousins, aunts uncles and friends love a good time. So rather than make a ton of heavy snacks that would waste calories and spoil appetites, we (naturally) decided to start the party with a Bloody Mary Bar instead. Our Bloody Mary bar was easy to do and a bit hit among our family and friends! Next time youre thinking of having people over but may not be up for providing a full dinner, Id highly recommend trying to build your own Bloody Mary Bar. In addition to your favorite Bloody Mary mix and your choice of Holy Water (aka Vodka), youll also need: Meats Cheeses I recommend cubed cheese, hard salami, sausage and, my favorite, prosciutto. We also put skewers out so people could make their own combo of deliciousness. Pickles, Olives Peppers I recommend serving an assortment of these three items. For olives, definitely do black, green and those yummy hot green european olives. I love Vlassics Kosher Dills but Im sure you all have your own favorite pickle. Go for spears instead of sliced or whole pickles so people can put their pickle in their glass and use it to add flavor to their brew. I also recommend serving peperoncini peppers, artichoke hearts and any pickled vegetables too. We did pickled asparagus and they were to die for! Sauces Spices Id definitely include Cholula and Tabasco sauces in your spread, but what really makes a Bloody Mary have flavor is SIRACHA! Dont forget the celery salt (rimming the glass in this is GREAT!), seasoned salt and pepper. We typically add A1 Steak Sauce to even the best of Bloody Mary mixes too to give it more flavor. Garnishes: Celery, Lemons Limes Leave out tall stalks of celery that people can stir their drinks with. If your mix didnt turn out right, a little secret is adding lots of lemons and it always seems to get the mix just right. Lemons AND limes are even better! Other Bloody Mary Bar Options Cute straws Bacon! Cucumber Vodka (I love Effen!) Mini Beef Tenderloin pieces Shrimp Tortelini Enjoy!

7 Habits Youll Need to Establish When Working Remotely
7 Habits Youâll Need to Establish When Working Remotely If youâre planning to start a new career, or if youâre preparing for a change in your current job, thereâs a strong chance you could end up in a work-from-home position. Today, more than 43 percent of workers do at least some of their work from home, and those that do are spending more time working from home than they did back in 2012. This increase is partially attributable to the fact that more employers and employees are discovering the advantages of working from home, such as higher morale, less commute time, and more flexibility. There are some disadvantages to working from home, tooâ"but if you start your new remote working career with the right habits, you can condition yourself to counteract them. Remote Working Habits You Should Start These are some of the best remote working habits to start your work-from-home career on the right foot: Dress for success. Thereâs ample scientific evidence to suggest that the clothes you wear have a significant impact on your performance, confidence, and even your personality. You may be able to wear pajamas to work without issue, but youâll stand to perform better if you dress as you would for a normal workday. Try to start this habit when you start working from home; if you wait too long, your sloppier dress style may become the new normal, and youâll miss out on the benefits here. Keep to a schedule. Keep yourself on a consistent work schedule. That means waking up approximately the same time each day, starting work at the same time, taking breaks around the same time, and stopping work at the same time as well. This will help you stay on track with your performance goals, and may also help you maintain a better work/life balance. Exercise. Try to work some time to exercise into you daily schedule. Exercise will boost your energy levels for the rest of the day, and will counteract some of the negative health consequences of working a sedentary job. It can also serve as a good excuse to take a break or get out of the house, which can boost your performance further. Just make sure you exercise safelyâ"the last thing you want is an injury to complicate your productivity. Only do work in designated areas. You may be tempted to do some work on the couch or in the bedroom, but keep your work relegated to only one room of the houseâ"preferably a designated office. This will help you draw the line between your professional and personal life, and make it easier to start work each day. Take note of distractions. Youâll undoubtedly be distracted by temptations in your house throughout the day, whether itâs the allure of the TV in the next room, or a loud family member making your job more difficult. Take inventory of these distractions as much as possible and learn to avoid them or confront them early on. The sooner youâre aware of them, the less power theyâll have over you. Clean your house. Clean workplaces are more productive workplaces. Unfortunately, spending much of your time working means youâll be less able (or less motivated) to keep your space clean. Invest some time every day to tidy up, and youâll be happier and more productive. Socialize with others. Working from home can get lonely, especially if you donât have much interaction with your coworkers on a regular basis. Make it a point to compensate for this by socializing regularly, whether itâs getting together with friends for lunch, or just working in a coffee shop instead of your home office a few days a week. Even the fleeting contact you have with a cashier or a stranger on the street can be a valuable way to counteract the isolation you might otherwise feel. Developing Your Own Working Style These entry-level habits are good to ensure you make a smooth transition to your new working environment; however, they arenât perfect fits for everyone. For example, while most people perform better when sticking to a schedule, others may find that a looser, more flexible approach is superior. As you grow to become more comfortable with your position, allow yourself to experiment; pay close attention to how your productivity and mood change with your new additions, and keep the strategies that work best for you as an individual.

Try narrowing the list down to two or three of the career paths that catch your eye the most and then do further research on each one to see which will be best suited for you.1) Executive Chef / Chef Manager/ Head ChefevalevalIf you are a natural born leader, then this may just be the role for you. An executive chef oversees what happens in the kitchen. This role also includes hiring new staff, training them and ensuring high-quality standards are met in the kitchen. You can also let your imagination and creative side run wild with this role, as it involves putting together and designing new menus and computing food costs. As this is such an important leading role, the applicant is usually required to have an Associate or Bachelorâs degree behind them and a few years of culinary work experience but it pays well.2) Sous ChefThe sous chef is second-in-command in the kitchen and plays an important role in supervising what is happening in the kitchen and making sure that kitchen equipment is in proper working order. A sous chef will also be involved in the hiring and training of new staff, although final decisions will normally be made by the executive chef. This is another important role so an Associate or Bachelorâs degree and a few years of work experience are usually required to apply. The nice thing about this role is that after some time, a sous chef could be promoted to executive chef, so there is plenty of room to grow.3) Pastry chef /PâtissierThe key is in the name with this one. A pastry chef is someone that specializes in making pastries, desserts, breads and other baked foods such as cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pies and ice creams. If you have always dreamt of running a bakery or a dessert shop, then this is definitely the role for you. This role involves a lot of creativity as it requires the chef to sample and create new pastry and dessert recipes, plan a menu an d organize the costing. A pastry chef may also be in charge of supervising pastry chef training, hiring new pastry chefs and ensuring the high-quality production of the pastries and desserts. The nice thing about a pastry chef role is that there are no strict educational requirements to be one. An aspiring pastry chef will need a culinary certificate or diploma behind them to prove their culinary competence.4) Restaurant Owner / Restaurant ManagerPerhaps you have always wanted to own or manage a restaurant.Restaurant managers are in charge of overseeing, coordinating and assessing all of the operations in a restaurant. They are also in charge of hiring and making staff training programs, ensuring safe practices are being carried out within the restaurant and ensuring that kitchen equipment is being used properly. This role also gives you the opportunity to get a little creative as it involves making final decisions on new menus and pricing.evalAs this is such a heavy leadership role, an Associate or Bachelorâs degree is normally required along with a few years experience to prove competency and leadership skills.eval5) Banquet ChefBanquet chefs usually work in hotels, resorts, country clubs and other large facilities where they work behind the scenes managing staff and purchasing ingredients. There is a lot of creative licenses that come with this role as the banquet chef is usually the key member of the team that is involved in designing the menu and sourcing the best ingredients to use.Becoming a banquet chef requires at least an Associateâs degree in culinary arts or food management. But the really nice thing about this role is that once you have a few years experience under your belt, a banquet chef usually has the opportunity to advance to higher roles in the kitchen such as sous chef and can even work up to becoming an executive chef with some additional training.ConclusionThere are so many kitchen careers out there for you to choose from, but the nic e thing about a career in the kitchen is that some jobs donât require you to do exaggerated years of study in order to be able to land the role. Some of the apprentice and diploma courses are very intense and can be completed in as little as one year. So, if you are a lover of everything kitchen-based, consider a culinary career, so that you can get paid to do what you love, every day.eval
